Storyteller 3 is the flagship. As I publish additional Unity assets, they will join it here with their own product pages, documentation and support resources.
Moving to Storyteller 3?
Storyteller 3 is a major redesign rather than a drop-in update to Storyteller 2. To make moving forward easier, a migration exporter is available to help carry your authored Storyteller 2 data into the new system.
The exporter packages selected Story, Template and Game Bridge SceneData assets into a portable .st2upgrade archive. It is designed to preserve Storyteller-authored data, relationships, localization data and associated Story media wherever the two systems can be mapped reliably.
- Storyteller 2 Story projects and node data
- Templates
- Game Bridge SceneData assets
- UIDs, internal relationships and nested serializable data
- Localized lists and Story media folders
Unity scenes, prefabs, Interaction components, UnityEvents and custom C# scripts are intentionally not exported. Because Storyteller 3 and Game Bridge use a substantially different architecture, some runtime scene setup may need to be recreated after migration.
Back up your existing Storyteller 2 project first. For the safest workflow, create a new Unity project, install Storyteller 2 there, then import or copy the Story, Template and SceneData assets you want to migrate. Perform the export from this separate project so your active game project is left untouched.
Extract the download into the separate Storyteller 2 Unity project and allow Unity to compile.
Open Tools > Storyteller > Export For Storyteller 3, choose the assets you want, then create the .st2upgrade file.
From a clean Storyteller 3 project, use Tools > Storyteller > Import Storyteller 2 Data, then review the imported project and reconnect runtime scene systems where needed.
